The Person
That boy from Tulsa became the doctor who keeps the most frail and fragile babies alive.
For over forty years, Dr. Al Jumper has worked as a pediatric and neonatal anesthesiologist — caring for the smallest, most fragile patients in a space where every second and every decision matters; an advocate and a steady voice for children who can’t speak for themselves.
The path there was anything but straight. Like a lot of young people, he didn’t always see the value of an education at first. What carried him from a hard road in Tulsa to the operating room wasn’t a straight line — it was community, teamwork, and a kind of perseverance that doesn’t make for easy stories, but makes for true ones.
